The 1984 redesign gave the Virago a more Harley-inspired look, with gold-finished trim, twin rear shocks, a new frame, and a teardrop tank with an electric reserve valve. The 981 cc V-twin was torquey and easy to ride, though road testers criticised the rear suspension, brake feel and long-distance seat comfort.
